Get the shot, not the flu: Flu shots available on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus via variety of means

As a reminder, seasonal flu shots – which support the physical health pillar of the Healthy Boiler Program – are provided annually at no charge to all benefits-eligible Purdue faculty and staff, as well as spouses and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan, through a variety of means, including drive-through, walk-in and on-site options around campus.

No appointment is required to obtain a flu vaccine at the Center for Healthy Living (CHL) via drive-through, walk-in or on-campus events hosted by the CHL. Flu shot availability on the West Lafayette campus is outlined on the “2022 Flu Shot Information” webpage.

CHL vaccine information

The CHL will be administering:

• Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine, which is designed to protect against four different flu viruses: two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses. It is approved for anyone ages 6 months and older. 
• Flublok Quadrivalent vaccine, which is designed to protect against four different flu viruses: two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses. It is approved for use in ages 18 years and older. It is preservative- and egg-free.

Identification required

Regardless of location, individuals coming for a flu shot should bring their Purdue University ID (PUID) card and their insurance card.

Additional flu shot options

• Purdue University Pharmacy (PUP) located at 575 Stadium Mall Drive – serving, faculty, staff, students – walk-ins welcome between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but preference will be given to those with an appointment. Purdue Pharmacy is administering the Flucelvax Quadrivalent prefilled syringe this year. It is a preservative-free, egg-free and latex-free product. 
• Employees also can schedule their flu vaccines with their health care providers or at a local pharmacy.  

Earn Healthy Boiler incentive dollars

As a reminder, flu shots are included in the 2022 Healthy Boiler incentive as one of the optional well-being screenings in Step 2 for those 18 years and older. Therefore, those who get their flu shot in 2022 and log completion into the Healthy Boiler portal, are eligible for additional incentive dollars.
